There’s a wide selection of security techniques you can implement on your phone to keep your files and data safe. As well as being able to set passwords and patterns to stop people accessing your phone in general, an area that’s commonly overlooked is the process of keeping the files stored on your external SD card secure.
By encrypting your SD card you’re adding a layer of protection over everything that’s stored there and the SD card itself. Once the encryption process has been completed, you’ll need to enter a password every time you want to open or transfer one of the stored files. Despite it being a bit long-winded to enter a password every time, it stops other people from gaining access to them. We’ll cover every step you need to take to correctly encrypt your SD card and although it can take a while to complete, the benefi ts will be clear to see when you’ve finished
Find Security tab
Open up the Settings app on your Android smartphone and scroll down the menu until you reach the Security option. This menu includes a wide range of settings and toggles you can alter to change current and add new security elements on your device.
Encrypt external SD card
Press on the Encrypt external SD card tab located at the top of this menu to begin the encryption process. At the same time you might want to check out the Encrypt device option which outlines the process of encrypting your phone and what it actually does.
