If you own a HTC One and you’re into hacking your device, you’ve probably unlocked your bootloader via HTC Dev. This enables you to install a custom recovery, install a custom ROM and much more, but there are still restrictions. You may have noticed that any changes you make to the system partition while the device is booted get lost on reboot this is one of the annoying features of S-ON status.
Your current status is displayed on screen when in bootloader mode. Fear not though, your device can be switched to S-OFF using the revone utility available (in developer preview form) at http://mdc.gd/revonedp. The utility itself is launched on your device via an ADB. The tool, which runs as root, but can auto obtain root access on your device if required, can also lock your device back to box fresh status, as well as removing the tamper flag. A very useful tool for the HTC One hacker’s toolbox
